For first-generation students, college graduation marks an incredible milestone for both themselves and their families. This exciting time marks the beginning of their career, and finding that first role post-grad is an important step. Brianna Moreno-Alcocer, a recent first-generation college graduate from Pitzer College, turned to the CareerSpring Network for support in finding a full-time opportunity. Brianna shared,
“I had an exceptional experience meeting with the mentors at CareerSpring…Over several months, I scheduled multiple meetings with them, gaining valuable insights on transitioning from school to work, resume building, professional growth, and networking. As a result, my LinkedIn presence was significantly enhanced, my resume became more competitive, and I established a clear career focus.”
Through the support she received from Advisors, Brianna was able to secure a role as a Financial Aid Counselor at Stanford University. Maggie Johnson, a passionate volunteer and one of the Advisors that Brianna met with, shared that, “Her well-thought-out questions and her determination to develop a solid strategy for her first professional role were inspiring. I was delighted when I received the news of her being hired by a top university.”
Maggie is just one of the 1,400 Advisors we have on our Career Platform for our Advisees to connect with for career conversations and advice. Maggie shared that her goal as an Advisor is “that through our discussions, I can help Advisees secure that crucial first job in their chosen career path.”
If you’re a recent grad or student looking for roles, we encourage you to meet with a member of our team to learn how you can tap into CareerSpring’s resources. Brianna expressed, “I encourage students to take full advantage of such opportunities, as the support and insights gained can be pivotal in achieving their professional aspirations.”
Congratulations to Brianna and the entire Class of 2024!
